Angel Sanctuary - Jahannam
Act V : Sacrifice, Part 1
(exactly where we left off... the giant statue/carving that setsuna and kurai are hanging off from...)
setsuna : [what the hell... is this huge man's body...!? and that face...!! and... that face almost... almost looks like him, doesn't it...!?]
mad hatter (voice sounds, to his surprise) : that is indeed the current appearance of the sovereign of hell, my lord lucifer. (creates a series of steps/stairs that reach up to where setsuna is hanging) now, come to me. you cannot stay there like that forever. oh and please... do not resist me any further. (standing on a platform with some servants below) it was quite fortunate that you have landed here.
setsuna : [mad hatter...!] (looks really shocked) w... what the hell is this place...!? (as they come down, it's a zoomed out view of the cave they've fallen into... the place where all the previous brides slept)
mad hatter : this is the last destination of the sacrificial ritual, golgotha's province. all around you are our previous mistresses who were sacrificed for this ritual. and now... when the sacred 999th bride throw herself into the pit below... the ritual will be complete. that was the true meaning for you to become one with the demon lord, the reason is because sheol is connected to my lord's body. therefore when you broke the earth, the blood that gushed out was all part of the demon lord. right now we are all being devoured by him.
setsuna (surprised) : [the blood that flowed out of the earth...!!]
mad hatter (short explanation) : yes... in the ancient times, when we fallen angels escaped and fell to this land... it was a desolated place where no life could exist.
text : the barren desert land and the burning sea of sulfur. and the endless glacial plains, cruel beyond imagination.
mad hatter : but then the demon lord rooted his own body into the land and with himself as the medium...! his body grew in sheol and sent his power all across the land, and thus created the empire of darkness.
kurai : then that means......! the demon lord on the wedding ceremony was really only a fake... this is the real one!
mad hatter (looking up at the statue) : yes... however, this is only an empty shell--------- it happened many thousands of years ago. suddenly appeared a man in black who seized the demon lord's soul in an instant.
(very short/brief flashback scene of a guy... in black cloak/cape/shirt wearing a black mask... basically totally in black)
mysterious man : the time of out agreement has come. for now, rest in peace, lucifiel.
mad hatter : I was not here at that time and could not do anything to stop him.
text : ...however from the words of other demons, he had entered so effortlessly as the rows of guards were powerless against him. and just like he came, he went in a gust of wind.
setsuna : [he took the demon lord's soul...!?] isn't the demon lord's name "lucifer"?
mad hatter : "lucifiel" was my lord's proper name in heaven. at the same time he fell from the skies, he abandoned the name god bestowed to him, "the one of brilliance (-iel)" and changed his name to "lucifer".
(kurai and setsuna are now speaking to the mad hatter face to face, all standing on a round platform hanging in midair of the bottomless pit. the circle has ancient magical symbols carved on it and with a goat's head in the center)
mad hatter (as the ground begins to vibrate again) : after losing its soul, the demon lord's body was out of control; it continued to expand and released limitless energy. and now, hell is slowly being destroyed. that's why we have spent so long preparing for the golgotha's ritual. and if it could be completed, this land would be saved. do you understand now? (setsuna and kurai both look shocked) only someone with a sacred heart who has not had any physical contact with others can enter this pit... (her servants restrains both setsuna and kurai) it doesn't matter which one of you becomes the sacrifice, otherwise everyone here and all of hell will be destroyed.
kurai (wide eyes) : [if I... become the sacrifice... then setsuna will be saved...?] (step forward)
setsuna (being restrained) : k... kurai!?
kurai : mad hatter... you were wrong about one thing. (mad hatter looks unreadable... kurai has walked to the edge but turns to look at her with a half sad and pitying expression) I am not pure or anything, I'm only a normal, fragile and sly girl. A self-centered girl who's trapped in a foolish and pitiful love just like you. (looks back so sadly) you dress yourself like a clown, deceiving everyone including yourself. haven't you noticed. are you so afraid to cry and want his love? but you really just want to be loved from the bottom of your heart. poor mad hatter. your love for him is so helpless...! I pity you... (belial's face is still blank but there's definitely something glowing in her eyes)
setsuna : kurai!! don't do something stupid!!
kurai : [setsuna...!!] you and I both... just loves someone... that is all ...isn't it. (turns her back to them and about to jump)
setsuna : STO...
mad hatter (from her expression, kurai definitely touched upon something deep inside) : [princess...!!!]
(blood splash)
someone (mad hatter's hat falls to the ground) : that's right, kurai. you can't die yet.
(behind mad hatter is arakune who was disguised one of the servants, now plunges a sword into mad hatter's heart from behind)
arakune : if this man is so important to you, why don't you become his bride yourself?
mad hatter (a little twisted smile) : if I only could, things wouldn't be so difficult... arakune...! (both setsuna and kurai looks in shock)
arakune : my dear master. (stabs a dagger into the goat head mark on his chest) pardon me but I have come to return this to you. (a big spider like monster comes out of that tattoo) what you have once given me, the demon sealed inside this mark! (if you look closely... I suspect the spider to be the same thing that the mad hatter was riding on when she appeared in front of arakune for the first time) thanks to this guy I obtained great demonic powers, but sorry, I don't want to be bounded by this mark anymore. (this part looks somewhat confusing... but it seems like the other servants were taken out... and the spider turned into a little ornament... then again, that could be arakune's earring x.x) and by the way, I didn't dress like a woman to change my appearance, it's simply because I like to.
kurai (worriedly) : arakune... your wounds...!
arakune (walking away) : it's only a little scratch. (smile slightly) ...hey, even though I was born into the wrong gender, don't you still think I'm just beautiful? (setsuna and kurai has this super funny look with sweatdrops... and a big "HUH?")
kurai (sweatdrops, hair standing up) : y... you transvestite, what are you talking about at a time like this?
arakune (standing at the edge of the platform) : the qualification of the ritual's sacrifice is basically being the unpolluted child. in short, as long as it's a young body, it doesn't have to be woman's. (holding a rose to his face) in which case, I qualify as a bride also. you might not believe it looking at me, but I'm still a virgin. (bending down in pain... from his injuries) uh...!
kurai (running over) : arakune--------!!
arakune : don't come near me!! arakune (faint smile) : ...what idiots... really... that we are... are you still crying? oh, you are always all talk. I had enough of babysitting. next time, get that man besides you to look after you. (as kurai and setsuna looks at him wide eyed) and next time, you better become a good woman that'll make him cry, just like me... (falling roses... arakune falls... in a calm, quiet light)
text : well, you'll probably never become anything close to me.
kurai (in a frozen moment) : no... noooo...! (the rose) ARAKUNE------------!!
(but then soon enough... the whole place starts to collapse... the pit/hole is caving in)
setsuna : WAH!! this place is caving...!!
(suddenly a hat flies through midair in a bouncy pattern, creating a series of magical stairs leading down from the platform)
kurai : setsuna!! stairs...! stairs just appeared!? (looks and finds mad hatter sitting on the ground, still with the sword in her chest >.< in a motion that just threw the hat)
mad hatter : it's neither trick nor illusion.
kurai (still with tears remaining on her cheeks) : [mad hatter...!] (the hat returns to mad hatter, and she gestures in a farewell motion) ...goodbye. (looks back sadly) goodbye, mad hatter...!
(the image of hell and collapsing cave starts to fade... mad hatter is still sitting there in the midst of the falling rocks)
text : farewell, my princess. still, you're my sacred sanctuary. (setsuna grabs kurai and run for their lives in the falling debris) more and more as they fall violently, forcefully, and mercilessly on me.
kurai : ah! (hit by rocks) s... setsuna!
text : this is most befitting for my foolishness. let them fall on me as they condemn me for my filth and sin.
setsuna (more rocks falling on them) : KURAI-----!!
text : princess, if I was able to qualify as a bride, I would have gladly given myself to my lord. then I can assimilate with his majesty and support the base of hell forever. I would have died in that dazed moment of extreme happiness...
(the entire castle at the center of sheol collapsed...)
a voice : -sama... hime-sama... (kurai slowly open her eyes) hime-sama! (and before her is noise, smiling)
kurai (jump up) : v... voice!?
noise (calmly) : no, I'm noise. but voice is with me. so is arakune-sama.
kurai : that's right! setsuna and I got separated on the way... I'm actually in one piece...!
noise (seems sad) : ...that was... all thanks to him. (you see abaddon completely crushed under falling debris... I believe he's dead... since he never appeared afterwards) when I found you, he protected you like that... (scene of kurai unconscious lying in abaddon's palm)

kurai (tears) : y... you are a strong boy, no matter what others say...! you... really are my wonderful child, aren't you...?
text : everyone... everyone tries to protect me... and yet I... I...!! I only trouble them further.
kurai : I want... I want to become stronger...!!
text : I don't want this to happen to anyone ever again. I will... I will become stronger to protect the happiness... of the people I love...!! I do not wander anymore. I will not have anyone bleed for me ever again...!!!
kurai : and my heart... my strength will all become stronger...!! stronger than anyone...!! (crying but with a rather fierce look on her face)
(a faint scene... of someone's hand on another person's chest... and a glow around it... and another faint/fuzzed out glance of someone's face... he probably doesn't know it, but that's raphael reviving setsuna)
text : someone... someone is calling me... (setsuna is lying unconsciously on the bank of lethe) who... is that...? that's calling me...? who...!? (he kinda leans back naturally... and I think he fell into the river T.T) w h o...?
(meanwhile, sword, blood, aftermath...)
mad hatter : ...... why... (in the ruins of the palace, she's lying on asmodeus's lap... who's sitting on the steps in front of the fake lucifer's throne) why did you help me...
asmodeus (calmly) : just because you wanted to die. you're not the only perverse one. plus, the aftermath will become more difficult if there was one less to the seven satans.
mad hatter (jump up, laugh sarcastically) : hah, you mean the seven satans...!? what... (in her fury, totally blows the fake lucifer statue to bits) what are the seven satans...! (asmodeus does not change) what do those things mean anyway...! rebuild the empire of darkness!? what is the use of that when the demon lord is no longer here. duke asmodeus, you must have known! you must know that under my mask of clown is only the face of a clown... how ridiculous I must seem to cling to the shadows of a man who might not even return...! if you think it's funny then just point your finger at me and laugh!! (she sits down in total weariness)
asmodeus (in his usual calm fashion) : even so, when you are covered in mud, or stained by blood, you are still the most sacred and beautiful woman in this world to me.
mad hatter (looked up at him... and there was a quiet moment) : what a fool.
(ah... note in the scene above that her wound is gone... but her jacket and hat are also gone... I guess to show that she's in quite a mess... and her makeup is kinda smudged too... anyway... sadly enough, we bid farewell to another one of my likable characters ^^ no, not the mad hatter, I meant asmodeus. this is the last we see of him T.T but don't worry, belial comes back for another few scenes... none so extensive as the past few volumes but she gets her share in the end ^^ actually... I take that back... both asmodeus and astaroth comes back for like... 1 distant shot later >.<)
text : ah... who's calling to me... who is that one...?
(this looks kinda dreamy... has a distant shot of raphael leaning over setsuna's body... and setsuna's the unconscious one here floating along the river of lethe *so he did fall earlier... I wasn't so sure back then >.<*)
text : that's right... why does the demon lord look like kira-senpai...? why...? you should know. who are you? it's alright, since you'll awaken soon, you may rest now. this is the water of forgetfulness, the river of lethe... now let's just borrow the power of this river's water...!! (the nanatsusaya crystal he's been wearing is glowing brightly... also the convo above is obviously an exchange between two people...) I am... I am...!!
(the crystal glows even more brightly... note that the "I" was in feminine form... or at least not the ore that setsuna would use, and kira appears at the bank of the river... probably already quite far from the initial place that setsuna fell in... he was surprised to see someone come out of the river... especially when it's alexiel/setsuna... well, the reader should realize it's alexiel because that look on her face is just different...)
alexiel : what's wrong? do you not recognize me? you are as cold as ever, nanatsusaya... no... (walk out of the river, dripping wet) you should've begun to remember as much. isn't that why you came down to this land. to find out who your soul belonged to before you were born as the nanatsusaya.
kira (looked at her slightly... ok, a little more than slightly, surprised) : [that's... not setsuna. this woman... this woman is...!!]
alexiel : what's the matter? haven't you always wanted to touch my hair?
kira : [it can't be...]
alexiel : don't you have the arms and body to embrace me now? or perhaps... do you still see me as the goddess of war as back then?
text : alexiel...!?
alexiel : even though... I would've been happy just to be an ordinary woman...! (then more fiercely) why won't you free me from the chains of the creator's curse...
kira (expressionlessly) : I don't know what you are talking about. I am only a lost spirit resting in the sword.
alexiel (lean close against him) : will you not even give warmth to this poor wet, shivering woman? you really are a cold man, "lucifiel".
(and the last page of this chapter is a rather abstract picture... yet again... of what looks like kira pinning alexiel to the ground)

(metatron is sleeping, hugging mr. bunny and surrounded by all his dolls)
text : hallelujah. salvation and glory permeate in all of god's creations, judgment in its rightful form...
(metatron is fast sleep, but a scene that focuses on mr. bunny just makes it look really freaky. and I just realized that it has never occurred to me before to call mr. bunny "usa-san"... T.T I just started off following what everyone else called him... but ... it just sounds so bad x.x and did I mention that mr. bunny and sandy is played by seki tomokazu???? *_* maybe I'll get a clip of him up or something ^^)
text : in the rightful form------------
a boy : ahahah... ahaha (he's running around playfully in another dimension, surrounded by miscellaneous, random objects) ahahahah. it has been so long... since I had taken my own form inside metatron's dream! in here, I am the strong one. now, where shall we go play? I'm so excited. what's that? looks like something fun is going on. (walk towards whatever he sees) ah! (in his hands, he held up a little glowing sphere, just like all the other stuff in this dimension, but inside is a strangely shaped tree dome -> uriel's dimension) found------you!!

boy (excitedly) : cool, cool! there are a lot of strong guys here! I wonder what they're doing------ what's this? isn't this a kekkai from a different dimension! then it's different from the other stuff here, because it's not someone's dream, I can't destroy it but... looks like I can at least play a prank!
(zoom in on the people inside the tree dome, raphael is trying to revive setsuna, with light all around them etc, but set-chan started coughing blood)
katou : h... hey!! why the hell is he coughing blood...!
raphael : it's no use...! the resurrection spell is failing...
katou (point his staff at raphael) : and you say it now, you asshole!! (vein)
raphael (funny look ^^) : [what's with you since before...] it's not my fault. to have this area completely cut off in a sealed dimension is quite a problem. (looks around) in this dimension, there's not enough of the wind elements which is necessary for me. if I can't gather a larger amount of energy, his body will fall apart------! (sara looks at them in wide eyes)
text : "if... you don't face the truth... your eyes will never see the light again..."
katou : you've gotta be joking, do something!
raphael : wah! let go! (this is voice only... but I can just imagine katou grabbing raphael or something) if my hand lets go, the spell will be broken!
uriel : ~stop it! this is not the time to do this...~
text : as long as... I refuse to see the truth...!! (suddenly sara puts her hands on raphael's)
raphael : s... sara!?
sara : continue!!
text : the... the pulse... of water...!?

(in sheol... noise and kurai are walking together... and kurai suddenly turned around)
noise (surprise) : ......princess?

text (kurai pause again) : princess... (a bright flash of light)
both : wha...!? Ahhhhh!!
noise (covers kurai protectively) : princess...
text : princess... please don't forget, wherever there is shadow, there will be this pathetic clown. as long as you call for me, I will come to you no matter where you are.
(kurai and noise both falls unconscious. somewhere else in sheol... the nanatsusaya talisman is cast aside and kira and alexiel are both half undressed... ^^;;)
text : it has always been the same. we've always managed to pass each other by no matter in which era. as we strive for a brief moment of tranquility, it is still the same. this is the end of the road for our all powerful god's clay dolls. to engage in slaughter until one draws the last breath. (alexiel circles her arms around kira's neck and some sort of energy sphere forms in her hands) fate.
(the glowing energy turns into a dagger sort of thing and she stabs, but kira had noticed and pushed her to the ground)
kira (smile slightly, leaning over alexiel, his shirt's also half off *_*) : you haven't changed at all from the old days, cruel woman. because you no longer have any use for me? alexiel.
alexiel : it seems like you've already started to remember... various things...
kira : yes. weren't you thinking of using me since the very beginning? in the distant past, when you helped me, the evil sword with a dark soul, out of my seal... you must have already known that I was the soul of the lord of hell, didn't you? therefore now that I have begun to awaken, you plan to kill me, using yourself as the bait. why do you risk yourself so? why do you degrade yourself so?
alexiel (sitting up, fixing her hair... also half undressed ^^;;) : in order to be freed from the creator's curse, the curse that has bounded rociel and I since birth. until the creator vanishes, we can never escape from this hunger------
text : this time I will keep that promise I made with rociel on that day so long ago.
rociel (flashback) : I might not last much longer... you do understand, don't you? alexiel... when that time comes... I want you to kill me without hesitation. (already has this half crazy look to him) you should understand better than anyone. this body that I've received from you... has changed so much after all these centuries. my psyche... won't much longer. of course, the creator has also noticed. and the proof is that it seems like our white friends (the sick experiment people who do all kinds of research) have begun the "metatron" and "sandolphon" project. the birth of the new children of terror as recorded in ancient scriptures... they were clearly created to be a force that opposes the two of us. father will create once again monsters like us... rociel (kind of half cowering, just sitting there) : [are you... are you going to kill me...? alexiel nee-san...!!] (tears flow down his cheek)
alexiel : [i... couldn't bring myself... to kill rociel...!!]
text : I couldn't destroy my other self... my other wing.
kira (look at her with no expression) : is that why you've sealed your consciousness until now... and slept deep inside setsuna's mind? because you cannot hate or kill rociel...
alexiel : I have watched over all the numerous past incarnations waiting for this time. setsuna is the organic angel that I have been anticipating. however he is still immature. and so I sought to remove the man who will surely come in his way in the near future. for you will most certainly awaken as the lord of hell, and thus rise before setsuna as his mightiest enemy. you do understand, don't you, that I am not the goddess of victory as the people hope for, (think of the logo of the movie "the godfather" with the hand on the puppet string ^^) I'm only a marionette who is rising to sever the strings attached to my own body. (kira is sitting and leaning against and wall, and she's standing, but in a bending over position) I will always have countless piles of corpses mount under my feet... I am the angel of death, demon lord in the making. (leans really close face to face) do you hear that? the pulse, that's the sound of setsuna's heart... he is coming back to life...! we will soon part again, lucifiel... no... nanatsusaya. although you love me so... (kiss him) it is all meaningless. (kira closes his eyes)

katou : h... hey!!
michael (look around at the elements flowing in the air) : t... this energy is...!? water?
uriel : ~correct... the trees that formed this kekkai is made from the basic elements of earth and water.~
michael : and she's using that element of "water" as the source of her power and helping raphael...!!
sara : *breathing difficultly*
text : will they succeed!? (sara faints)
raphael : sara...!? (suddenly) !
(a giant hand breaks through the tree dome)
boy (in his dimension, reaching into the glowing sphere with the tree dome) : ahahahaha, eh-- it broke!
katou (jump away from falling stuff) : wah!! (point up at the hand, shaking) w, w, w, what the hell is that!!
uriel : ~impossible...! intrusion from outside...!? [and it's not from normal space but an alternative dimension...!? someone who's breaking in from a person's consciousness...!? that's theoretically impossible.] who is the one behind this...!?~
raphael (grabbing sara) : not good. the dimension is breaking!! we must leave for now.
michael (funny angry face) : what------!? (looking super flamed up ^^;;) in short I was only the cover!? (vein) you better remember this, uriel!!
raphael (in the background) : [mika-chan (sweatdrops)]
(ahem... please give me a moment to explain yet another thing my thesaurus did... I was trying to look for a word like "front man" cuz that's basically wat mika-chan said, but of course it returned me "receiver of stolen goods" which lead to a bunch of choices including on that said "dump" and when I clicked on it, it gave me "garbage dump", "trash" etc. T.T I don't think mika-chan said in short I was only the garbage dump? >.<)
raphael (holding the unconscious sara and dragging mika-chan along, or holding him back) : and so will I, uriel. this is quite a debt you owe me. (they are exiting in a whirl of wind)
uriel (looking up at them) : ~I will remember it... [yes, my actions are "treason". but I have already prepared myself...!!]~
katou : ...hey, (carrying setsuna) how come set-chan is not awake yet!? his heart is beating!
uriel : ~his soul seems to be locked under his consciousness. usually he would have awakened already. [however if he doesn't wake up and this continues, then we have failed.]~
sara (regaining consciousness) : ...ah...!
raphael (letting her down, there's a big whirl of wind around them that's like a connecting portal) : are you alright, jibrille!
sara : eh...? (eyes wide open) ah...!! my... eyes... my eyes can see...!! [my eyes...!!] (the image through her eyes goes from fuzzy to clear and she sees uriel, katou and setsuna down there) SETSUNA...!! (reaching out for him, the same time that setsuna's eyes open... and the same time that the boy's hand smashes a big piece of rock on them) SETSU... (knocking on the barrier of wind but she can't get back)
boy (having quite a lot of fun) : ahahahaha, it's broken! but that's what you get for being so weak.
(sara looks in horror at that big piece of rock... which suddenly totally gets blasted away as setsuna jumped up in a burst of energy)
setsuna : don't get over your head, you fucking brat!
boy (in a flash of light gets blasted back) : WAH...!!
(sara and setsuna locks eye contact... and sara's trying to go back... but she's already on the other side of the portal, and raphael's holding her back)
sara : setsuna... setsuna!!
setsuna : you idiot, don't!! if you get caught in the twisted space... you'll be sent to another dimension. sara...!! I will... definitely come to get you...!! so... just believe in me and wait!! alright!? (sara's crying, while getting pulled away by raphael) don't you mess around!!
sara (crying, with hands over her mouth) : hn...
text : I won't forget... after so much sacrifice, our union has caused so much misfortune for everyone. because we are the most sinful people in the world.
(the boy has fallen to the ground, sitting in awe, the glowing sphere has basically fallen apart and vanished)
boy (in awe) : the messiah...
(he touches a bloody cut around his face... think squall and seifer ^^ in hell, alexiel looks peacefully asleep)
belial : it seems the messiah's own body has been successfully revived. alexiel once again returns to a beautiful corpse. (scene of kurai and noise both unconscious, sitting in a magical circle) a magic circle that leads directly to the surface of anagura has been prepared for you. the princess is merely asleep. (there's a butterfly flying over kira who's in the same position, sitting, leaning against a wall, and holding alexiel's body) have a pleasant journey, your majesty.
(kira looks at the butterfly expressionlessly with a tint of coldness, alexiel still looks so peacefully asleep and he leaned down and kissed her)
text : alexiel...!!
(scene change)
setsuna : [sara...!! she looks different... but that's most definitely sara...! the sara I've been looking for...!! wait for me, sara... I will definitely come and get you out...!! I'm going to go to supreme heaven and save you, definitely...!!]
(look really determined... ... ... and katou kicks him in the head)
katou (stepping on setsuna's head) : quit trying to play fucking cool, and look around you. (vein) [meaning us.]

text : ------- improper child ------- children who should not exist. due to the fact of their lively red eyes and clear white skin which they had received since birth... they were called "rabbits".
(you will find the description of this chapter short and to the point and sometimes too brief cuz I'm damn pissed right now *read end note* anyway, there's a picture of a sculpture of a pretty young woman with long hair. you should've seen her several times by now...)
text : you are stronger, wiser and braver than anyone, and yet I pity you most of all. because even when your eyes are wide open, they do not reflect any light of truth.
(in zaphkiel's office)
zaphkiel : you mean raziel-kun? he went on a little sociology field trip. he always said that he wanted to be of more help to me, so I had him sign up as a volunteer in the angel's residential area inspection team.
secretary (whom I am beginning to think is the assistant great throne rather than a secretary) : then he's at the lowest level of shamayim now...? (pouring tea) the security down there has been getting worse by the day, wouldn't it be too dangerous? (oh yes, and I don't really care if this sounds good anymore... like I usually try with my translations...) and those slums are a giant underground sewer system like a mole's lair with all kinds of people... if he get lot, he might never find his way back out.
zaphkiel (playing with a world model) : it's also time to open his views to the truth. the darkness hidden behind all the glory... what is truly meant by our original sin...!

(a kid grabs raziel's bad and runs off)
kid : gotcha! that's what you get for standing there like a idiot! stupid! see ya!

guy (another inspector dude... grabs the kid) : wait!! (life him up) as I thought, an unregistered I child, take him away.

guy (give the bag back) : here, just be careful next time, candidate raziel.
raziel : I'm sorry...
text : because the blood of second generation angels are too strong, there's an extremely low percentage of those born without deformities. I heard it was one of the main reasons why love has been named as one of the ten forbiddances.

(suddenly someone jumps him)
raziel : ! (push the person back against a fence) what are you doing!!
attacker : ah!
(and it was some really shitty fence cuz they fell right through... either that or raziel pushed too hard)

raziel and attacker (falling down the edge of the building, yes, it's the edge behind the fence) : wahhhhhh!!
attacker : [damn...!!] (feathers start to come out on the back... suddenly raziel's wings are fully spread) ! (and raziel grabbed the person, covering them from the fall) [!?]
(they land... on their butts)
attacker (push raziel away) : ...let go!!
raziel : [ouch] but ...you...!
attacker : don't look at me!! (get a full clear view, a girl with short light color hair with one wing on her back) what... never seen an one-winged angel? this place is the garbage dump for those who are not accepted since birth, angels who should not be born and some guys who don't even have any wings. you should know as much up there!
raziel (look apologetical) : ...oh... um... I didn't know that. ... sorry.
girl (gets pissed off with a sweatdrop) : huh? (snap at him) why are you apologizing!? (raziel has a sweatdrop) I was the one who attacked you and caused you fall down here!!
raziel : ...but... (still so kind as ever) you... are hurt. (notice she has been in some pain) I feel bad.
girl (surprised) : ...! [what's with him? strange guy...! (raziel just looks at her with the same kind and serious expression) those clear pretty eyes that looks straight into mine.] (get a tag bit more friendly) you're the one who's hurt. (and raziel just noticed he's in more of a mess) you were protecting me before when we landed, weren't you. (still with a half annoyed look) come on. I'll give you a hand. but just stay low cuz if others find out that I brought someone from above, I'd get beaten to death.
(they get to an ally)
raziel : eh? what is this...
girl : shhhhhhh!! (trying to open her door in a sneaking in fashion) we'd be in trouble if some loudmouths find us.
(suddenly a bunch of kids pop up from behind)
kids : ah!! it's shat. and who's that!? who------? shat!
raziel (funny look) : [we're caught.]
girl (with a I give up look) : ......
(later inside, the place is crawling with kids... very noise, jumping all over raziel-kun as the girl's trying to ignore them and wrap up raziel's wounds)
kid (extends his pinky) : hey, are you shat's----!?
raziel (funny look) : they can't be... all unregistered I child...? [I'm surrounded by red eyes]
kids (running around chasing one another) : no telling anyone!!
raziel : ...but...! s... so many children...!? but... what happened to their parents who committed the crime!? (girl slaps a band aid onto his face) ah!!
girl : you angels from above should know that the best, should you not!? what happens to the people who are marked as fallen angels...
raziel : [ah...!]
girl : the fate of those like me born with handicaps has already been decided. you do know that only angels who are perfect in form, of unmatched beauty, can become successful in the world, don't you? these are the abandoned godless streets, therefore the laws here are decided by these angels. it is so stupid to be appointed a crime since birth. they only see these children as rabbits and take joy in the rabbit hunt. if you are in love, it's only natural that a product as the result of that love. what do the angels up there know when they don't love anyone? why can't we love someone? if there's someone you love, you would want to hug that person, won't you?
raziel (getting really embarrassed) : n... no way... i... I d... don't love anyone!!
girl (looks at him surprised for a moment then burst out laughing) : WAHAHAHAHAHA... AHAHAHAHAH
raziel (more embarrassed) : w... what!!
girl (still shaking in laughter, while raziel looks pissed) : sorry, sorry!! I didn't think there are really still innocent angels like you these days!! if I had known before, I wouldn't have jumped you! (still giggling)
raziel (fuming) : w... what the hell are you talking about!?
girl (stops laughing... finally and smiles slightly) : ...alright, I'm sorry. I judged too quickly. (get up) now, you should go back before other inspectors find this place! (before raziel is about to protest, a kid covers his mouth and shuts him up) with the cargo transport, it'll take you above ground after 5 to 6 minutes, see ya then! (shows him the lift)
raziel (getting on) : ah... shat! t... that's your name right... shat? (as the lift is moving up) well... there's really a lot of things that I don't know, and I'm sorry... but! I think the high ranking angels chose these cruel policies in a difficult decision in order to unite heaven and make the world a better place! I too... became a volunteer inspector for that... next time when I come, I'm sure there's something that I can... I'm sure...!
girl : shatiel! (raziel looks surprised) my name is the angel of silence, shatiel. don't forget when you come over "next time", elite-san! (making fun of him ^^;;; for being so innocent)

setsuna (innocently believing him x.x) : eh? (sweatdrop) o... oh really. (checking... and damn lots of sweatdrops... turn totally red) ahh!! w... what the hell is this!!! (in a very funny scene... chase after katou angrily, with his shirt open) why the hell were you drawing on me when I was asleep---------!! [wahhhh~~~]

uriel (calmly) : ~all the information was from this man, I merely lent a hand. you don't need to thank me. (give setsuna a little panel device) with this device you will be able to communicate with the great throne zaphkiel, the man who took sara's soul from hades.~
setsuna (remembers the blind priest) : [that man......?] he really is a cautious one. as for the thing with sara... there's something fishy.
uriel : ~truly he is a very mysterious man. however he should be detesting heaven quite a bit, because it was by the hands of the high council that he lost his eyesight... and the woman he loved.~ (profile of a woman in shadows)
setsuna (pondering) : [the woman he loved...?]
uriel : ~oh yes. and he said that he will give you a very helpful present the next time you meet. (turn around and leave) and now if you would excuse me, we don't want the evils to find an angel like myself here.~
setsuna : uriel! (smile) even so I'm still very grateful to you. much more than that guy who's passing information from afar.
uriel (pause for a moment) : ~until we meet again.~ (disappear)
setsuna : uriel!! [something very helpful to me...? great throne... zaphkiel...!]
katou (sitting in the background, looking really bored) : [hey... you got a light?]
(in heaven... sevotharte appears on a communication console screen in zaphkiel's office)
zaphkiel : I believe jibrille has returned under your supervision once again.
sevotharte : your sources are quick, zaphkiel. no matter what she still seems rather confused... how can I allow her appear in front of people when she still makes a fuss about claiming to be a human girl?
zaphkiel : ...well, that is true.
sevotharte (a sketchy scene of a lot of men surrounding mika-chan, raphie-kun and sara) : I had michael and raphael captured on the spot when they returned to heaven with jibrille. even powerful ones like those two had to hand her over as told.
zaphkiel (smile slightly) : you really do control their movements well. or perhaps, had someone seen it in a dream and told you?
(sevi doesn't say anything for a moment, and raziel walking around in the background)
sevotharte (change of subject) : oh, is that the boy I met at your place last time.
zaphkiel (a bit surprised, so is raziel) : oh... I'll have him leave now.
sevotharte : well, that's not necessary. I believe he joined as a volunteer underground city inspector... tell me what you think of the world below?

zaphkiel (quickly) : please leave now, raziel-kun.

(scene fades into the slums... raziel went to the children again, with a lot of goodies, cakes, food, toys)
children : wahh!! all this great food------!! they're presents from god. and all these toys and fruits! hey, look at this, shat! (shatiel enters to find her house crowded with happy kids... and raziel)
raziel (smile) : hey, so we meet again, shatiel.
shatiel (surprised) : you...!
(later when they are alone)
raziel (gives her a pretty necklace) : hey, you know? there will be food going to the other places too. and this is only the first step, the high council has wanted to do something since long ago. this is your share. it's the military supplies so can't really say that it was from me. here! (shatiel puts on the necklace, blushing a little, and raziel smiles... a very happy pure smile) how pretty.
shatiel (looks down) : you're the one who's pretty. but I'm not talking about your appearance. not your two wings, or brilliant blond hair, or clear green eyes. I'm not pretty at all, when I attacked you the first time we met, I thought, "oh... it's those bastards again". the rabbit hunt inspectors do whatever they want with us, things that we cannot resist. (raziel seems shocked and upset) they say "don't bother. we make you useless angels at least be of some use to us"... therefore, I can never be pretty anymore. (crying) so? isn't it strange? isn't it crazy? those from up there see love as the greatest forbiddance, yet in the shadows, those so called elite bastards forces us to do things with no love.
(raziel tries to comfort her, but she kind of flinched and he looks he doesn't know what to do)
shatiel (looks up, still with tears on her cheeks) : really... why...? why is it a sin... to touch the person you like...?
(suddenly... they both snap out of that touchy mood looking really embarrassed)
kids (from the other room) : shat!! come eat the cake together!
shat : oh...!! (wave) i... I'm coming now! (to raziel) y... you coming too? (trying to act all normal) everything says that you're like santa claus.
raziel (leaving) : no... sorry, my teammates are still waiting for me. (look at her face to face one last time) shatiel, can I come again?
shatiel (smile) : stupid!! of course you can! (hold up the necklace) so? looks good on me, doesn't it?
raziel (waving goodbye to everyone) : [it's alright. as long as we believe, surely we can get to know each other better and better.]
(shatiel and the others also wave back, a strange sound from the necklace that no one noticed... and they begin to cut the cake)

(just as raziel has reached above ground... a huge explosion occurred from underneath. and he just looks back completely stunned)

text (flashbacks of shatiel) : what, first time you've seen an one-winged angel!? you better remember... it's shatiel. (more flashback scenes, she's crying) you are the beautiful one. it's crazy to be renounced sinful since the time you were born. it's you. (raziel caught in the explosion) why are we not allowed to love?
(time passes... shamayim in ruins in the aftermath...)
raziel : the entire underground city of shamayim was destroyed in that explosion. the number of casualties are still increasing. it's just like when the seventh horn was blown in the book of revelations. yet that was not an unfortunate accident. (raziel's fierce glare... although he's got bandages all over the place since he was caught in the explosion... defiantly faces sevotharte in a grand hall) you had the explosives planted inside the relief supplies! I will report you, sevotharte-sama!!
(it's kinda weird to say I'd report you, when he is the prime minister x.x I think it would be better if that turned into something like accuse you or something... but he literally said "report you"... it's more like... let the public know...)
sevotharte (coldly) : fearless and foolish youth. what fuss can you make alone? consider your own position. truly it was a horrible explosion, and we would have needed people to handle and help the situation. of course there's no need to bother with wasting our precious time and effort. (many snap shots of the mess in the slums) so I just had the entire underground sewer city completely destroyed and buried underneath the concrete.
raziel (angrily) : ...but if you do that... even the people alive will be...!!
sevotharte (calmly) : they are the disgrace of heaven. it's a good opportunity to purity them.
raziel (look of horror) : [that can't be...!!] (thinks about shatiel, covers his mouth in disgust) that kind of thinking...!! made them fall into such darkness... AND KILLED THEM!! (attack sevi... who releases a burst of power before raziel could get close enough and blows him back)
guards (doors popped open from the commotion inside) : prime minister!!
sevotharte : no one is allowed to touch me...!! (probably except zaphkiel ^^;;) furthermore, I have long been disgusted by those blue eyes of yours... that shone in a hypocritical light pretending not to know the filth of the world...! (ok, raziel's eyes are... blue greenish... but as for which I'm not sure... cuz I don't know how to describe this color... x.x the word they used is... a color that western people don't get! it's like... a word you'd use for... say... sea water... which could be blue... but otherwise dark green ~.~;;) how grossly repulsive!! (to guards) arrest this candidate. he's a survivor of the shamayim explosions, and under suspicion for these terrorist bombings.
raziel (shock and anger) : [wha...!!]
(suddenly someone enters in a hurry)
zaphkiel : please wait!! (he rushes in... and to raziel's surprise and... everyone else's, he kneels to sevotharte) to let such an imprudent one out into the world was a mistake on the part of none other than the great throne myself.
raziel (surprise) : [zaphkiel-sama...!?]
zaphkiel : however this boy is still an immature candidate in training. (bows down) just this once I beg you...!! in deference to me, the great throne... please have mercy!! (he really has changed hasn't he... since the past)
raziel (yell out) : s... please stop it, zaphkiel-sama...!! [he's the one who reigns above all thrones...! and yet in front of so many people...] that sounds like you are admitting that I am guilty...!!
(zaphkiel slaps him expressionlessly)
zaphkiel : you were the one who brought about these tragedies, raziel-kun. (coldly... seems even more so with those blank eyes) you should have known that the rebel forces are apparently hidden in shamayim. that place is an impenetrable zone to the high council. those relief supplies you requested to be sent to them, with toys, books, and cakes...! we know that they go to none other than the I child, because that place is full of hidden sinful children who are the child of god.
raziel (in shock and realization... while his face must still hurt) : [ah...!!]
zaphkiel : your imprudence gave the high council the perfect excuse to enter that area. while you are filled with self-satisfaction for doing something good for them, your foolishness brought the horrible death upon those children. (*sob* that's mean of him T.T raziel looks totally traumatized)
text : my... my foolishness... killed her. (bloody, bloody scene...)
raziel (scream) : WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
sevotharte : now don't put it so dreadfully, zaphkiel. you make it sound like we the high council are criminals.
raziel (still trembling in pain) : ah... ahhhh....!

(>.<;;; sorry if that sounds stupid... basically, like you'd say someone's an eyesore, this one is an earsore...) all of you, everyone, leave this room except for the great throne. (zaphkiel looks at him with those blank pupils emptily) because if seems like you have forgotten something very important. yes, you must not forget. that wound... and that proof. (a flashback scene... only for an instant, of someone... whose face we can't see... slitting his own throat with a knife. I think it's rather obvious that's zaphkiel)

(sevotharte half opened zaphkiel's shirt to look at that wound, and zaphkiel appear to be completely blank the whole time... blank and unreadable)
sevotharte : with these hands I have impressed upon you that you may never again forget your loyalty to me. you must not betray me again. do not------ refuse me again---------!! (his hand makes a deep claw mark on zaphkiel's chest) or else I may not forgive you once more...
(this weird scene fades out... dunno what they are talking about? just read on... you'll get it around 13... now in the kingdom of gehenna... kurai has returned to her people)
kurai (public speech) : I have once betrayed the trust of everyone and fled this kingdom, and as a result my cousin arakune gave his life to protect me. he... left this world with the great honor of evils... and leaving behind to us the hopes of rebuilding this kingdom...! I swear...! to carry on arakune's wish... and my own! face the angels with greater determination than ever before!! yes... if everyone would give me another chance...! i... want to become the real dragon master and join the messiah in the fight to challenge god, until the day we achieve victory!!
everyone (cheering, all touched etc) : princess kurai...! of course we will, princess!! we're glad you're alright-----! everyone's behind you, kurai-sama!!
(noise standing by kurai, watches with a little smile, kurai is sobbing, so very touched)
kurai : everybody... thank you...!
(scene fades out and later in the palace, guess who shows up)
setsuna : isn't it just great, baka hime-san. but you'll have to excuse me if that happens again.
kurai (surprise) : setsuna!?
setsuna (big genki smile) : hiya. (wave, with katou in the bg looking kinda unhappy)
kurai (runs up and looks at his old body) : your body...!! ahh, setsuna's body came back to life!! so what sakuya said was true, this is great-------! when kira brought me and noise who were unconscious back to anagura, your soul has already left alexiel-sama's body. and so he said "then setsuna must have returned to life".
katou (on the side) : ah------ bored.
kurai : but then when we went to check on your body, it wasn't there! and according to everyone, it was the fake guy who pushed his way into the tower and stole your body. (and continue on blabbing)
noise (sweatdrops) : [princess...]
kurai : I was so, so worried...! (but setsuna's kinda ignoring her, giving katou the evil look)
katou (pretend he doesn't see) : [well I didn't have time to explain it all.]

kurai : anyway, after we returned from hell, alexiel-sama's body is being frozen again and everything returned to normal. (looks sad) [everything except arakune...]

(up on the walls behind her is a round glass window, through which sevotharte was observing her)
sara (doesn't look at him anymore, though she doesn't seem angry) : compared to you, raphie-kun and mika-chan appear much more like gentlemen. (remembers) oh... that was you, wasn't it... I remember now. I had first awakened here, and didn't know my eyes couldn't see, I thought everything was dark.

sara : when I followed the sound of water, I met you for the first time. my eyes could still see slightly at that time. (sevi seems upset) in the moment that light appeared... (flashback to when she opened the door and walked in on sevi) I saw you without your veil then. it was really dark and all but I really did see your face. why do you hide that face now? was it because of... what you had on your face back then?
(ok, sevi is definitely upset... but you don't get to see the end of this convo yet... right now, it's raziel-kun touching the cheek that had been slapped... sadly and seriously, he stand outside of a japanese styled house ^^)
raziel : ...zaphkiel-sama. i... ask to be dismissed as assistant to the great throne. I have thought it out carefully... yes... everything was my fault. I had never understood the true extent of the corruptness of heaven and the high council's policies... until I saw with my own eyes. I was still so naïve as to tell myself that there were sacrifices made to control a society... but I was wrong. those are not the things that the most magnificent beings of this world would do. (angrily) to... to abuse those innocent people who have nothing to do with this!! to kill them just like driving away pests!!

(all this time, the sliding door to the japanese house is half open, and zaphkiel is sitting/kneeling inside on a mat with his back to raziel and hasn't moved or reacted... now who would've thought that zaphkiel lives in a japanese house and wears a kimono...? yukata to be exact ^^)
raziel : at that time rather than bowing down to him, I would rather have been killed screaming my innocence! (zaphkiel slowly takes off his glasses, raziel bows sadly) I will never forgive in my lifetime. ...therefore, in order not to disgrace the throne's name...

raziel : I will be leaving. (looks up with tears in his eyes) please forgive me that I cannot return so much I owe you. I won't spoil it for you, just read on that you'll get it as things unfold... I really do want to finish AS, but I wonder how many people will be disappointed to know that I will be doing Gravel Kingdom next... ^^;;; hey, it's still Yuki Kaori plus I don't have volume 12 with me here so it's no use even if you flame me... I have to remember to bring it back to my dorm when I come back after fall break (meaning can't start translating 12 until beginning of october) hate that volume anyway... and if I ever survive that... we will be getting to the best of yetzirah ^^ I think shikouten should be most evenly divided into yetzirah which is about zaphkiel (11-14), briah - laila and the trial of jibrille (14-16), and atziluth - lucifer, sandolphon, and the grand finale (16-20)...

(on the cover is a beautiful woman, the one who has been appearing as the statue in zaphkiel's secret chamber for all this time... with her wings wide spread, pointing a gun to zaphkiel's head... I love this picture *_*)
raziel (shock) : that's...! it can't be...!!!
text : the mark of fallen angels!?
zaphkiel (calmly) : yes, Peccato marked as "P" of the highest order of criminals. I am a fallen angel.
raziel : that's impossible...!! z... zaphkiel-sama is a fallen angel...!? that's a lie! once dishonored with the title of fallen angel, those people cannot possibly become high ranking angels!!
zaphkiel : ...yes, it should be impossible no matter what... do you want to know what really happened... then let me show you. (takes raziel's hand and puts it on the Peccato mark)
raziel (surprise) : eh?
zaphkiel : with your powers you should be able to see the rest. (raziel focuses and everything around him starts to glow and fade away) well... what do you see? what do your eyes show you...!
raziel (concentrating, searching) : [what... do I see...! what is that...? so red...]
(the scene focuses once more, light fades away into a real world... and thus leads to one of my favorite parts of AS ^^... someone takes a step, crushing a bloody doll under his foot. a mother covering her child protectively in fear... cowering against a wall, crying out something... and someone walks towards them slowly, behind him a bloody trail of... a lot of dead people -.-)
text : he... he can't be...
(the guy has shoulder length black hair, looks really cool in a trench coat ^^;; and has a deadly cold flare in his eyes... and with another swift motion of his hand, both the mother and the child fall to their deaths... in very bloody fashion. raziel watches in shock... and we get a good look at the guy's face, now with blood splashed all over him but he doesn't seem to mind... and as if this is going to be a big surprise to anyone... it's zaphkiel ^^, who looks really evil but cool at the same time)
text : zaphkiel-sama------!?
(the boy has had a horrible death... later in a laboratory, all the people in that room shrieks as zaphkiel, still half covered in blood of his victims, put the bloody dead boy on the desk in front of a blond hair young woman.)
zaphkiel (half smiling) : a present for your dear prince. you do want it, don't you? the child's organs you need for transplant. (leans closer) this is a fresh one who was just crying and begging for his life a moment ago, anael.
another woman on the side (shriek) : ahhhhhh!!
anael (stare straight at zaphkiel coldly and firmly) : everyone please leave this room... I will deal with this barbarian. (ok, so everyone left)
zaphkiel (leaning against the desk) : barbarian? "rabbit hunting" has always been the official job of the thrones' internal investigation squadron. it's just the same as this in humane grotesque research you guys are doing here.
anael (coldly) : get out.
zaphkiel (crushing the flesh of that poor boy in his hand) : if we have the same job, why not enjoy it. plus it's their own fault, the ones who were hunted down, for being so weak. (pins anael against her hair and leans really close, about to kiss her) I would have done much better if it was me.
(anael slaps him angrily, and by the way, when I keep on calling that kid the "poor boy" it's not like I really feel bad for him ^^;;; just want to emphasize how evil zaphkiel looks)
anael : I don't want to see your face, get out!
zaphkiel (touches the side of his cheek with his bloody hand, still with the same roguish look) : you are even more beautiful when you get angry, anael.
raziel : [this... this is really zaphkiel-sama's past...!?]
(in another scene, there's a guy pushing a woman against the wall in the hallway and kissing her, and anael walked in on them)
anael : what... what are you doing!? (angrily) let go of laila!!
(zaphkiel kinda lets go and the woman runs away in embarrassment... we never get to see her face)
anael (very angry) : don't lay your hands on my friend!! how corrupt of a man are you!?
zaphkiel (coolly) : are you jealous?
anael : you are the angel who should be hunted down! egotistical, cold-blooded and above all, shameless!
zaphkiel : I just want to hear more of your voice.
anael : you are a demon who toys with other people's hearts! and...
(zaphkiel suddenly grabbed her and kissed her~~~~~ a very beautiful moment between them ^^)
text : ...and?
anael : you are... such a cruel man...! (touch zaphkiel's face gently) you who have such... such beautiful eyes and yet... they do not reflect any light of truth, do they...? what can I do... how can I make you understand? (circled her arms around his neck and just let him hold her) if only touching like this would be enough... I want to tell you, that there are still some things left in this world which you have abandoned...! let me just make one small light in those clouded eyes...!!
(fade out... we c... a younger version of uriel ^^;;)
uriel : your brutal hunting methods have become quite a problem for the high council.
zaphkiel (looks like he just came out of the showers) : oh it's you, uriel. the freaks of the high council, why don't those old crackheads who're just waiting for retirement shut up and drink tea or something.
uriel : you must not say that, zaphkiel. the great seraphim metatron is still young, his guardian, the man named sevotharte, it appears that he will join the high council officially this time. (which means this story happened after alexiel and rociel or else metatron wouldn't be in power... wait... then why is uriel still around??? @.@) things might get rough with him. and... (leaves) somehow word got out of what's going on between you and anael.
(another scene, anael looks really frightened)
anael : you were right, I have been doing demonic research. perhaps that's the reason behind project crew member laila's disappearance... we... might have created something terrible...
text : I'm scared... I'm scared. but there is no turning back.
anael (grab zaphkiel's hand in plead) : oh, please, zaphkiel. don't hunt for fallen angels anymore!! why do you have to stain your own hands as the great throne!? I will be putting in a request to higher authorities... so please stop killing your own kind.
zaphkiel (getting dressed... yes, they were in bed before ^^;;) : why should I stop such enjoyable work? (with the same, somewhat cruel expression as before... he hasn't changed at all) what is vice and what is virtue, it is only for god to decide.
(anael seems really sad and alone... with no one that understands...)
anael : [don't... don't stain your hands in blood anymore... how can I make you understand...? what should I do-------?]
(another scene, zaphkiel... and other men are on a mission)
text : alright, this is a top secret mission. very important classified information has been stolen and passed to the rebel organization. we know where they are. your mission is to infiltrated into their base, destroy the stolen data and dispose of the spy who stole it. the rest of the fallen angels should be captured alive to stand trial, but the spy who stole the information is an exception------- a young woman with short cut, spiky red hair. she cannot speak.
(so the group basically threw in some nerve gas first into the building)
text : she must be disposed of without fail.
men : -----it's time the gas took affect. alright, let's go.
(they find a passage to the basement)
man : it's the basement!
zaphkiel : there wasn't enough gas to cover the basement... I'll go down.
man : then I'll...
zaphkiel : I alone is enough, you guys take care of things up here.
(in the basement, he finds a woman sitting in a chair in the shadows with a gun in her hand)
woman : ah... ahhh... uh...!
zaphkiel : [the red hair woman... who cannot speak!!]
(above... the men find that the whole place has been trashed. blood all over the place)
men : hey... what's going on here!? everyone's... dead, what the hell!? (kinda freaked out) hey... (sees a guy standing there) what are you doing over there!? what... (sees the box he's carrying) explosives!? h... hey, he's dead...!
(the red hair woman in the basement)
woman : ah... uh... (as if she's trying to say something) ahhhh--------!
zaphkiel (energy blast) : [shut up. what are you trying to say pointing a gun at me.]
(the explosives falls down from that dead man's hands... and zaphkiel kills that red hair girl... only as she fell, a red hair wig fell off her head... and through the light of the blast, we can see clearly that her hands were tied together holding the gun... and zaphkiel realizes too)
text : your eyes do not reflect any light of truth even when they are wide open. (anael fell in a pool of blood) what should I do to make you understand, what should I do...!?
(that whole place up in flames...)
people : anael was taken by the rebels along with the classified information.
text (zaphkiel was kneeling on the floor with his hands tied behind his back, brought to trial before the high council) : that was not the report we received. when we had arrived, the rebel base has already been suppressed.
people : it was crazy to blow the whole place up.
text : the red wig and flashy makeup was so that she couldn't be recognized in that poor lighting room. the handcuffs often used by the military...
people : none of your own men has survived. (damn... he must've been upset... by the way, I think the people talking here are obviously the high council... and if you listen to setsuna's theme from the ova soundtrack while you are reading this part, it's perfect!)
text : the gun was forced into her hands.
people : you must take this responsibility in death.
text (scene of when anael fell... there was something on her neck...) : and... what most likely took her voice was that one needle.
people : do it yourself, zaphkiel, so that you will never again disgrace the name of thrones any further. so that you will never again be reincarnated in another life.
zaphkiel : since the beginning...! since the beginning I had no wish for reincarnation...!! what is there in this world to return to?
text : it doesn't matter now who had planned this set up. it doesn't matter anymore. I didn't recognize her.

(scene of zaphkiel tied up in chains, with his eyes blindfolded... as if that's necessary and sevi holding a branding rod) with all evidence and witnesses lost, this incident was covered... and instead, to force me into absolute obedience, he left this mark with his own hands.
text : remember this pain. you are mine. (ok... I know people are getting other ideas here... -.-;;;)
zaphkiel (put his kimono back on) : ...anael was becoming afraid of the demonic research ordered by the high council, it's true that she had contact with the rebels for convenience. the high council had wanted her, the rebels... and myself to be eliminated. and the name of the project that she was supervising back then was... "sandolphon"... (the kanji reads "embryo") the great seraphim metatron's twin who died in birth. and until I can see the "truth" that she wanted to show me, I will carry on her will... ...yes... I am the shadow leader of the rebellion. for so long... I have lied to you. I'm not a magnificent angel who fights for the glory of heaven but a traitor. (put his hands on raziel's shoulders) ...i don't mind if you despise me. (raziel looks like he's about to cry... and zaphkiel wipes away his tears) ...raziel... kun...?
(such a touching moment)
raziel : why... have you waited until now to tell me...!! that's... such a cruel insult...! did you seriously think... that I would... despise you? I ...think it's a great honor. the master I serve and believe in is really a magnificent person after all...! he's different from all the other powerful great angels, a true hero who challenges reality with his own power alone...! and I am... most grateful that you chose to reveal everything to me...! please! command me as you wish!
zaphkiel (hugs raziel gently) : ... then, I have a very important mission for you... (fading out) I want you to hand something over to the messiah.

sara (leaning back against the chair and looking up at sevi) : ...what's wrong? is it such a shock that I saw your face? (silence between them... then sara said almost playfully) I lied, l i e d! I couldn't see anything but shadows moving around. it's just that you wear the mask all day long, so I just wanted to see what happens! I don't know what bothers you so much but... if you hide your face like that, you will never have the trust of the people you care about. (sevi - fist tighten, swiftly walk away) ah... hey! wait!! (no more response) ......... (goes back to her boring life... with a sad, sad look) [pitiful... man.]
sisters (as sevi is walking out) : sevi-sama...?
sevotharte : silence!! (very bad mood >.<) [she must never leave...!! no one may lay eyes upon this girl for the rest of her life...!!]
(just a sudden thought, the story of zaphkiel, anael, raziel and people are not really related to the whole thing with alexiel and rociel and god stuff... but I suppose it reflects a even more truthful reality of the general state of heaven... just like the seven satans though also not related to that whole messiah central theme reflects the reality of hell... I like them better than the whole elite, super high up central characters... by the way, zaphkiel IS very good at playing with people's heads... anyway... in gehenna)
katou : hey, but you know, it's your fault too for getting suckered. and weren't you hiding a lot of things from me in the old days? (words behind him says "acting all conceited") so just call it even, alright?
kira : oh? then what if I had told you, "actually I am... an immortal man who came after setsuna who is the reincarnation of an angel"... would you believe me?

(meaning... it's complicated... long story... and suddenly something beeps, he takes out the communication device uriel left) [was it this thing!?] ! it's the communication device from uriel...!! it's a message from zaphkiel!
katou (sitting on the side, sweatdrop) : [I still think it's a pocket beeper.] (it said pock-bell, but that sounds weird)
kurai : u... um...
setsuna (reading off the message) : "please come to the next appointed coordinates in half an hour, I will be sending a messenger over. he will have very important information for you." (stupidly screaming at the machine) sara... is it information of sara's whereabouts... huh!? (and then another beep and he and kurai stare at it with huge sweatdrops) ...it disappeared... (sweatdrops)
kurai : setsuna...? the words that appeared just now was not even enoch but temura... and was encoding. how could you read it?
setsuna : eh, I don't know why but I just know what it means?
katou (one elbow on setsuna's shoulder, blowing smoke in his face) : ...so, we going?
(setsuna is surrounded... x.x and they are all pestering him...)
katou :it's so obviously a trap, but your eyes just change color when it comes to that woman------- [just use your brain a little and don't be stupid---]
kurai : setsuna!! don't tell me you're planning on going off alone again! [you better be taking me along!!]
kira : you must have made certain preparations if you plan to go into enemy territories alone.
setsuna (holding his head in pain... looking terrible... with may sweatdrops, thinking) : how the hell did I get myself into this~~~~!? (burst out) just go and we'll see what happens!

(setsuna has obviously made up his mind to see zaphkiel... at least when sara's involved... but if only he hadn't gone... many things would not have happened later)
text : are you an enemy, a friend or a cowboy this time? (cowboy kinda means playing both sides, playing with him... I still think setsuna's theme is perfect for this chapter) we will get that clear this time, zaphkiel-san.

yukie's note : I love this chapter ~~~~~~ ^^ although what I found to be quite strange is that zaphkiel used "watashi" in his flashbacks also... according to his old personality, I had really thought he would use "ore" or something... anyway, I think I probably will get shot for this... but... I think after I finish volume 11 of AS, depending on the situation, I want to either work on Gravel Kingdom or RG Veda 10. Then after that's done, I'll start on AS 12... but I hate 12... >.< *ready to beat up setsuna anytime now* anyway, 12 and 15, I really don't like (cuz no one I like is in it...) on the other hand... 13-14, 16-20... *____________* I love 'em all! (lucifiel-sama~~~~~ *faint*)
anyway *pop right back up*, the interesting thing to note for those who knows X and/or RG Veda is that zaphkiel's seiyuu plays seiichirou in X and ashura-ou in RG Veda... just thought it was interesting x.x

zaphkiel : however I have no time just the same. let me explain briefly. I want you to become the symbol of our rebel organization. we, the underground alliance of "anima mundi" has already infiltrated into all classes with members growing by the years. everyone grieves the current state of heaven... now ruled together by the resurrected inorganic angel rociel and the great seraphim metatron, however the real power lies with the chairman of the high council, prime minister sevotharte. and one of the four elemental angels, "jibrille" of water is currently in his hands. and as for the angel of water jibrille... she is the real identity of your beloved sister mudou sara whom you have been searching for, before her reincarnation.
setsuna (shock) : angel...!? sara is an angel...!? [then... sara is also the reincarnation of an angel...!!? the angel of water, jibrille!? (remembers the time when she was with raphael) then... how she appeared back then was... jibrille...!!!]

zaphkiel (such a fake smile T.T) : the members of our organization would surely hope to see the messiah who inherits adam kadmon's blood become our ally. please just appear in front of everyone once. if you cooperate with us, you will of course be informed with heaven's military information and have our full back-up on your operations. you may also save jibrille who is about to be put to trial and executed...
setsuna (eyes wide) : executed...!? what trial...!!
zaphkiel : in a sense, she is a troublesome existence in sevotharte's path, he has her imprisoned but even power as he is, he's still not allowed to kill the four elemental angels. the four great angels of the elements "earth, water, fire and wind", without anyone of them, the laws of nature will break and the world will be thrown into chaos. however under a legal judgment, they can be executed and hand over their power to someone else before their death. it's a legitimate way of disposing her without ruining the elements.
setsuna : wait... the trial... and her crime... don't tell me...!
raziel : ...?
setsuna : it's that again...!? (angrily) there it is again...!! you are going to blame her falling in love with her brother again! (raziel looks surprised)
zaphkiel : ...that's correct. and if any trouble is caused, the matter will be publicized.

raziel (looking at setsuna with a despising look) : [what the hell...!? he doesn't listen to his friends who are worried about him at all. and just moved on his own selfishly to go save his sister. I don't see any of the calm and cool-minded qualities of leadership. and with his own sister... I really... don't believe this...!! this guy is really the messiah that we have been hoping for...!?]
setsuna (grab raziel's collar) : hey, you!! (point to the machine that raziel came on) this magic device is gonna lead to heaven right?
raziel : eh...? oh yes, that's correct...! but in order not to be detected, the astral power has been turned to lowest and it can only carry one person once or twice.

(sounds like a salesman T.T)
raziel (really surprised funny face with sweatdrops) : [WHA...]
zaphkiel : and if anything happens to the messiah, of course you may do whatever you want with him, such as cook him, fry him, gang rape, it's all up to you. he has an approved guarantee from the great throne himself! (zaphkiel's hologram image on the communicator is also starting to fade, raziel looks at zaphkiel) there's something that's pulling my heart... (reach out a hand that touches right though zaphkiel's disappearing hologram... light beams, zaphkiel's image disappears and setsuna also transports out of there, leaving raziel looking unsettled, kurai upset and katou standing on the side) ah... that's right...!]

girl : it's true, sisters are all originally gorigols, they do not have a body of flesh and therefore no names. but the high angels sometimes give us bodies and make us work for them. the more sisters one has, the more sign of power. someone like sevi-sama has many highly intelligent sisters in his household. [the longer the dress, the higher the class. (note that her dress is super short T.T like a miniskirt, guess sevi really doesn't like her) I talk too much so sevi-sama doesn't seem to like me. but usually people use sisters like me who has their intelligence purposely limited. it's easier to order around that way. we won't rebel, or have any ambition. we only follow the master's orders.
sara : what...! then you will die if the master tells you to die!? that's just like a robot. what happened to your free will and dignity...!
girl (blankly) : what is that? I don't understand what you're saying, sara-sama... I am a sister, it's natural to follow the master's orders. (look away) but I do feel like I am thinking less now than when I was a gorigol. about myself, about the world, everything... I suppose that's what they call unnecessary extra information.
sara (sympathetically) : ...ah... um, I'm sorry... (but of course the serious mood is totally crushed when the girl turns around with a super funny surprised face holding a pot of flowers... and sara drops dead to the ground)
girl : sara-sama!! look at this! the flower is blooming!!! just one! how unbelievable! and it's not even night yet! (sees sara on the ground) what's wrong? sara-sama...

I think it's quite obvious that setsuna/kira/katou and mika-chan are the most popular characters in the story... though after volume 13-14 setsuna's popularity severely decreased cuz he was really being an ass T.T there is one girl here right before you who for 1 wants to beat him up, mad hatter is surprisingly high, but this poll was taken about... one month after the jahannam arc ended, her character being still quite freshly in mind. raphael was noted to be surprisingly high ^^ and so is astaroth. as for why someone would vote for kira's dad... that's beyond me. also barbiel's character has not been developed at this point either, so she became a lot more popular at the end, laila's story also doesn't come until volume 13-16 so at this point she's only known from nydd hogg and zaphkiel's stories. uriel although now constantly there, don't play an as important role as in hades arc so his rank also dropped, voice is surprisingly high, so is moonliel but that's because she just came out - new character. people who hasn't appeared officially or at all in the story at this point yet are: lucifer/lucifiel, laila, barbelo/bal, riuet, sariel, sandolphon, god, and other people that I forgot. who is afu and oba-chan? well, they come out in vol 12, since this poll was taken on the magazine, they are a few chapters ahead. I was surprised that moonliel was more popular than metatron... although I think metatron is probably seen as one of the bad guys at this point... most people start to like him around 17. anyway, those are the comments on the results they are... quite a sight x.x now, if I had voted... this would be my favorite character list, take a look if you want, don't have to though.
