(Hokuto's floating in front of Kakyou who has his trademark infinitely distressed look on.)

Hokuto: What's your name?
Kakyou: ...Kuduki... Kuduki Kakyou.
Hokuto: Kuduki Kakyou? If I call you Kuduki, it seems a little too formal... (she laughs to herself and beams at Kakyou) Can I call you Kakyou?

(Kakyou watches with a sad expression™ as Hokuto fades away and he glances around his dreamscape. He squints as Hokuto reappears with a bright flash of light.)

Hokuto: Eh? Where's this? This isn't my dream, (smiles at Kakyou) which means... it's yours?

(She disappears and then reappears beside Kakyou sitting on a boulder.)

Hokuto: You're a yumemi? I've heard about them. They are people who observe the future in their dreams, right? Are you surprised I know? I am a child of an onmyouji. Do you know the Sumeragi Clan? Oh no, I can't really use any spells. It's because I'm not talented. But the head of the clan right now is my little brother. (She laughs) Ah, I have a twin brother, he looks just like me, so obviously he's cute. (Kakyou keeps watching with a sad depression. Hokuto gets a subdued look on her face) But my brother, because his powers, he lives very painfully; because of such strong powers and a pure heart. (sadly) But there is nothing that I can do. (cheers up again) Ah, but, (she grins at Kakyou) thanks to the bit of spiritual energy I do have, I can meet you!

(This memory sequence fades again, and another Hokuto appears, this time kneeling in front of Kakyou.)

Hokuto: You've never been able to leave here since you were born!? Really!? (Hokuto looks at Kakyou sympathetically) Is this your wish? If it is, I can't say anything. Huh? It isn't? Then it's very simple. (A beach appears around them, complete with shimmering waters and a skyful of seagulls. Hokuto holds out a hand invitingly to Kakyou) Let's go, let's leave and go to the "outside"!

(Hokuto keeps smiling encouragingly, and Kakyou begins to reach for her hand, but his hand falls right through hers. The Hokuto image remains frozen in front of him, as he bows with depression.)

Kakyou: There is nothing...that I can do...

(Hokuto's smile remains frozen and tears drip down from Kakyou's face.)

Kakyou: Even though I dreamt that in future you would die... I... still could do nothing... ...The future...cannot be changed... (suffers in the dreamscape alone)

(Sunlight streaming down on a...er...dwelling...and a shot of buns...excuse my lack of knowledge of Jap food)

Sorata: Done! Excellent! This is going to be great! (Kamui looks at the bowl of buns in surprise) They might shrink if you pay attention! What's wrong? Why the stunned look? (Pokes Kamui on the nose)
Kamui: [The stunned look...*sweatdrop*] I just...never thought that you knew how to make buns. (Ed. Note: I have no idea what the correct name for the bun is)
Arashi: Me neither.
Sorata: In Kouya, every month we have a delicacies contest, the monks all gather in the great hall and display their best talents at making food. In fact, I am one of the best. [My rival is a monk who is very good at making "funeral buns".]
Kamui: Oh really...
Sorata: (Puts his face very close to Kamui) I was kidding! (Sorata ruffles Kamui's hair) [Hahahahaha Kamui just believes anything I say, how cute.]
Arashi: (looks surprisedly at the buns) You were...kidding?
Sorata: [Turns around] Eh? Nee-chan, you thought it was true too? (Arashi immediately sweatdrops)
Kamui: ...
Arashi: N...no, I...

(Sorata puts his hand on her head and grins)

Sorata: Nee-chan, you're really beautiful, but recently I've noticed you're very cute too. (Arashi flips her head aside and ignores him, Sorata laughs helplessly) Got myself into trouble again.

(Arashi's looking down and blushing slightly. As the meal goes on, Kamui looks at the empty seat besides him and starts worrying about Yuzuriha)

Sorata: Are you worried about Yuzuriha-chan?
Kamui: [Where are you...Yuzuriha.]

(Meanwhile, in a quiet backstreet)

Kusanagi: Are you sure you're ok?
Yuzuriha: Yep. My life was saved by Inuki, so I have to make good use of it. (Smiles sadly but bravely up at Kusanagi) Besides, if I'm always busy crying, Inuki would scold me. (Kusanagi looks relieved and pleased. Yuzuriha then blushes) Ah, thanks for giving me these clothes.
Kusanagi: Because your school uniform was soiled. (Laughs sheepishly) Unfortunately, I'm not too good at picking out girls' clothing. I should have asked first what sort of styles you liked.
Yuzuriha (blushing, shaking head violently) : No that's not true! I really like it! This outfit!! (looks down blushing) ...Because Kusanagi-san chose it for me. (Kusanagi looks surprised. More than half a page of quietness and petals/leaves flying romantically past Yuzuriha, who seems to have come to an important decision) ...Kusanagi-san, I like you, Kusanagi-san.
Kusanagi (looks very surprised): ...ojou-chan...
Yuzuriha (very red now): I like you, will it bother you?
Kusanagi (pats Yuzuriha on the head): Of course not. Anyone hearing those words from such a cute girl would be flattered.
Yuzuriha (clasping Kusanagi's hand and smiling happily): I know that to Kusanagi-san, I am still a little kid. But I really want to know more about you, and hope that you can know me better too.
Kusanagi: It's the same here.
Yuzuriha: I think everyone must be worried about me, so I have to go back! Can we meet again some time?
Kusanagi: If you think you can.
Yuzuriha: Yay! Kusanagi-san-------! Bye------! [(thinks) Inuki! I told Kusanagi-san I like him. (crying in happiness) And he said, I can like him, it's alright. Inuki... (images of Inuki and Yuzuriha during battles) because you are always in my heart. I will never forget you. I will try my best, Inuki.]

(Kusanagi watches Yuzuriha with a resigned expression on his face)

Kusanagi: ...The battle between "Ten no Ryu" and "Chi no Ryu", I had thought that it had nothing to do with me, and now it seems like that's no longer the case.

(Kanoe is making her way towards Hinoto in the dreamscape but is stopped a far distance from Hinoto by a transparent barrier)

Kanoe: No... I can't go any further. ...Recently, I haven't been able to steal a look at my Hinoto-neesan's dreams. Why? It hasn't happened ever before. ...Oh well, it doesn't matter. "Chi no Ryu" has a real "yumemi", who is exactly like my sister and can dream of the future. Just you wait, nee-san... I will prove to you that... your dream of "Hinoto's dream shall not come true" is correct. (A lot of destroyed towers and a hunching figure with a dismantling cape) And then, you will be freed from your destiny of being a "yumemi".

(Evil Hinoto grins evilly as Kanoe leaves and then smirks down at Good Hinoto, who's weeping within the water. Kakyou is bent over in depression, and Evil Hinoto rises out of the water behind him)

Evil Hinoto: Is this the first time we've met? Kakyou!
Kakyou: ...Have you already given it away? That body...
Evil Hinoto: You are enduring, aren't you? You're worst enemy is yourself. Your future-seeing dream is becoming the truth, Hinoto cannot win over me!! It will be exactly like what you have seen in your dream, the future has long been decided.

(Scenes of an abnormally quiet Tokyo, and the figure in the robe is shown to be Kamui, who is looking sad, as usual. Evil Hinoto is holding an image of Kamui with a sword standing over her fallen body within her hands.)

Evil Hinoto: That dream is false, I will not be killed by "Kamui". And also... The "Ten no Ryu" will all die.

(The image of Evil Hinoto disintegrates into shards, Fuuma appears in the dreamscape)

Fuuma: Has the Ten no Ryu's yumemi been devoured by her own heart? (He grips Kakyou's chin from behind) Another one of your dreamt futures is approaching, Kakyou. (Kakyou's weeping) ...Did you dream of that girl? (images from Kakyou's dreams) Hokuto, that's her name. Sumeragi Hokuto, the elder sister of one of the "Ten no Ryu", Sumeragi Subaru. (embraces Kakyou) ...Does it hurt? (Kakyou was at first surprised that Fuuma embraced him, but Hokuto's smiling image appeared again and he just closed his eyes and cried) Then I will grant your wish.

(Kakyou just gripped onto Fuuma's shirt tightly and cried his heart out, meanwhile)

Yuzuriha (muttering to herself as she runs along): Because I haven't contacted them, Kamui-san and co. must have been very worried, I should really get back as quickly as possible. (She sees Fuuma standing alone on top of a building and remembers seeing him somewhere) That person...!! (Fuuma glances at her and energy crackles around him) Aaah!!

(Yuzuriha constructs a kekkai as she sees buildings getting damaged by an thundering dragon)

Fuuma: A Ten no Ryu's kekkai? (He suddenly disappears)
Yuzuriha (thinks): [What now? Even though I've made a kekkai... Inuki's not here anymore...! How should I fight...!]
Fuuma: ...So you're the master of this kekkai.
Yuzuriha (shocked to see Fuuma not far behind her and thinks): [Since when did he...!? I didn't feel his aura at all!]
Fuuma: ...We've met before. To be able to make a kekkai, it means you are a "Ten no Ryuu". Would you play with me for a while.
Yuzuriha (still shocked, but this time by his resemblance to Kusanagi and thinks): [He really does looks like Kusanagi-san!!] (Thing around Yuzuriha gets blown apart and she runs from the shower of debris) [That guy is missing on purpose!] (A stone hits her ankle and cuts it) Aaaah! (She grabs on to a slipping piece of a building and hangs there)
Fuuma: Have you vented enough? (Things around Yuzuriha gets blown to bits)
Yuzuriha (thinks): [I don't want this! I've promised Inuki! I've promised him I will try my best! (She sees Fuuma smiling, the same way Kusanagi does) ...Kusanagi-san!!]
Fuuma: In the end, the kekkai you've made will be useless. (stands over her) ...You don't want to die?
Yuzuriha (glares back fiercely): Of course not!
Fuuma (smiles affectedly and energy gathering around his hand): If this is what you really wish for, you will not die.
Yuzuriha: What do you mean!?
Fuuma: Is it what you truly wish for, why don't we find out. (energy around his hand, he was going to stab Yuzuriha)
Kamui: STOP!

(You don't see him here, but a huge blast of power blows Fuuma away. Yuzuriha turns around and looks surprised to see Kamui on a distant building, looking determined to fight. Fuuma smirks while Kamui looks angry.)

Yuzuriha: Kamui-san!!!
Fuuma: You've come with good timing, "Kamui".
Kamui: ...Stop it! Fuuma!
Fuuma (smiles a little nonchalantly): You still don't seem to understand after all the times I've told you. I am "Kamui". (a big energy blast)

(The building starts falling apart so Kamui takes Yuzuriha to a safer place)

Yuzuriha: How come you're here!?
Kamui: Sorata got data from the CLAMP academy's chairman about likely sites to be destroyed next! And then we just split up to find you using that... (he sees her bleeding ankle) Are you alright!?
Yuzuriha (smiles): I'm fine!
Kamui: (Turns head) ...Don't you dare hurt Yuzuriha.
Fuuma (licking the blood that's running down the side of his face): Do you want to play with me next? "Kamui".
Kamui: I am no longer confused, I have decided, that I will bring back Fuuma. And even if I have to hurt him because of that.

(Fuuma merely looks amused and the two of them fight, with lots of blown up buildings. Fuuma's arm gets injured and starts bleeding profusely. Kamui tries to look determined, but hesitates anyway. The two of them starts fighting again.)

Yuzuriha: KAMUI-SAN!!

(The dust clears to show Kamui kneeling on a piece of shamble, looking tired but not yet physically hurt)

Kamui (Fuuma pulling him up): !!
Fuuma (cradling Kamui close to him and twisting Kamui's hand behind his back. Kamui's looking very angry): You're so adorable, "Kamui". (Kamui's hand is behind his back and with his other hand he pushes against Fuuma to keep the distance between them, but he looks pained as his arm makes cracking noises) If you keep struggling I'll break your wrist. (Fuuma leans closer to Kamui, who bends back away from him, but his arm cracks again) Or... ...do you wish me to break it? (Fuuma smiling as he twists Kamui's arm further)
Kamui (sweating in pain): Aaaahh...!!
Yuzuriha (crying tears of worry and thinks): [Kamui-san's going to get killed! And I can't do anything except watch from aside! (looks up determinedly) No! I will never allow this! (Kamui struggling as Fuuma continues twisting his arm and Yuzuriha remembers Inuki skewered by pipes) I don't want Kamui-san to die! I will never let anyone else die! Strength, I want strength! (desperately) The strength to protect myself... to protect everyone!

(A huge beam of light shoots out from her chest and blasts Fuuma away from Kamui. Both Kamui and Fuuma looks a little surprised at the interruption and when the light has faded, a cute little puppy is standing between Fuuma and Kamui.)

Fuuma (smiles at Yuzuriha): It looks as though your "don't want to die" feelings are true.
Kamui (yells after a leaving Fuuma): FUUMA!

(Yuzuriha is still sitting there in shock, the pup comes near Yuzuriha and floats up to lick her)

Yuzuriha: ...You...were born from inside me...? (extend her hand) Do you want to stay with me? To protect myself... to protect everyone. (the puppy jumps on her, she hugs him tightly) I'll give you a name. You will be Inuki, isn't that a good name? (hugs him with tears in her eyes) This time... we will be together forever, hn, Inuki.
Kamui (comes over): Are you alright!? Yuzuriha! (He looks surprised to see Inuki) That puppy...
Yuzuriha: He is Inuki, my dear Inuki.
Kamui (smiling and patting Inuki on the head, who's enjoying the attention): ...Pleased to meet you, (strokes) Inuki. (Yuzuriha looks pleased that they get along. Kamui then holds out a hand for Yuzuriha) Let's go back, Yuzuriha. We need to look at your wounds, and plus, Sorata and Arashi are very worried.
Yuzuriha (takes Kamui's hand): Yep! (Yuzuriha deconstructs her kekkai and reveals an unscathed city) [Wonderful, it hasn't been completely destroyed.]
Kamui: Because Yuzuriha protected it. (He smiles encouragingly at Yuzuriha) with that "kekkai".

(Yuzuriha closes her hand over the shrinking cylindrical kekkai. Inuki's busy playing with Kamui's loosened bandages while Yuzuriha looks off into the general distance)

Yuzuriha : [...Kusanagi-san, I hope you didn't get hurt in the earthquake just then...]

(Meanwhile, Fuuma is watching Kamui and Yuzuriha leave, either telepathically or physically)

Fuuma: Even if you hurt "Fuuma", is it... If you think you can finish this by injuring me, you will not win. (Fuuma seems to savour the moment as Kamui looks on ahead, completely unaware of Fuuma's thoughts) "Kamui"...

(At night in the Diet building, in the elevator going down)

Sorata: We haven't seen the princess for a long time.
Arashi: She seems to have been sick for all that time.
Yuzuriha: Is she better?
Sorata: We're here today because the princess invited us.

(Kamui remembers the fuzzy image of Evil Hinoto smiling again, it's been troubling him... they arrive)

Souhi & Hien (bowing): The princess awaits you.
Kamui (as they walk, he remembers images of Daisuke): [...Daisuke...]
Sorata (ruffles Kamui's hair): [Pats] We need to help Daisuke protect the princess.

(Kamui looks at Sorata, surprised to find Sorata guessing exactly what he was thinking about. Sorata smiles at Kamui, who closes his eyes)

Kamui: Yes...
Hinoto: I've been waiting for you. (She does a good job of a sincere smile)
Kamui: Is your body alright?
Hinoto: Yes, I am truly sorry to make everyone worry. How are your wounds healing?
Yuzuriha (enthusiastically grinning): All's well! I am very energetically right now!
Hinoto (spots Inuki, somehow): That puppy is...
Yuzuriha (holding Inuki forward): He's Inuki!!

(Hinoto reaches out a hand to pat Inuki, who seems to sense something. His nose begins to scrunch up and he barks viciously)

Yuzuriha: No, Inuki! (Inuki scowls at Yuzuriha with a "huh? Why not?" look on his face, despite the fact that he is a dog, Yuzuriha holds him close up) No!!

(Kamui notices the exchange and begins to suspect things. Inuki looks repentant, makes various noises again... while looking like a scolded child)

Sorata (pulling on Inuki's ear, who's looking sulky now): What, isn't little Inuki feeling well today? *pull, pull* (Inuki doesn't look happy)
Yuzuriha: Sorry, Princess Hinoto!
Hinoto (smiles generously): It's alright.
Kamui (looks puzzled and worried): [What is the matter, he suddenly started barking violently...] (Kamui looks suspiciously at Hinoto, who keeps her composure)
Sorata (tears pouring down his face with Inuki hanging on to his hand): IT HURTS-----!! (he got bitten -_-;;)
Arashi (not amused): Because you were picking on him.
Sorata (shaking his arm to try and fling Inuki off): [WAHHHH]
Yuzuriha (upset cat face): Hey! Inuki!!
Kamui (only one acting serious): You must have something to say if you called us here.
Hinoto: That's right... I've had a dream. A dream about the next "kekkai" to be destroyed.
Sorata (shock): You know?
Hinoto: Yes.
Arashi: ...Where is the next place?
Hinoto: Yasukuni Shrine. (Seiichirou, Yuzuriha and Daisuke met there once)
Sorata: This time we can get there first-!

(Sorata, Yuzuriha and Arashi looks very pleased with the news and talk excitedly. Kamui meanwhile remains quiet, and Inuki's still growling at Hinoto. Evil Hinoto smiles while Kamui's too busy worrying to notice. Next scene they're at the shrine)

Sorata: So this is the Yasukuni Shrine
Yuzuriha (looks sad): I've been here before, together with Saiki-san... To visit Aoki-san.

(Kamui puts his hand on her shoulder in a very reassuring way. Yuzuriha nods and puts on a brave face. Sorata looks pleased at their actions)

Yuzuriha: Aoki-san... has changed work locations?
Sorata: Yes, heard they transferred back to the mother company. Karen-san seems very busy with her work as well. The princess dreamed today at this time, the kekkai at Yasukuni Shrine will be destroyed. Even though we don't know who will be coming, we will still try our best to prevent it. (Shots of Yuzuriha, Arashi and Kamui looking tense and determined. Sorata makes his kekkai) Just in case things happen suddenly, let's construct a "kekkai" first. Now the only ones who can enter here are "Ten no Ryu" and "Chi no Ryu".

(Kamui looks up at the cubical kekkai and then down at his hands, looking depressed)

Kamui: [I still can't make a "kekkai".]

(Evil Hinoto views the four of them standing on the abandoned path and smiles)

Kakyou: You told them a false dream. (appears behind her)
Evil Hinoto (not looking at him): For a "Chi no Ryu", isn't this much more to your convenience? (She holds out a hand and an image appears - the one with Kamui standing over her fallen body) This dream will not come true. If all the "Ten no Ryu"... dies!

(Kakyou looks down and sees Good Hinoto with her hands pressed against the water, seeming to be begging his help. He closes his eyes in helplessness and leaves her dream)

Fuuma: Even if we just leave them alone, the yumemi of the "Ten no Ryu" will kill the "Seven Seals" anyway. (Takes Kakyou's hand)
Kakyou: What are you doing?
Fuuma: Don't you want to go? To the ocean. (Kakyou looks surprised) The beach... which you promised Hokuto.
Kakyou : You know... where it is?
Fuuma : Yeah.
Kakyou: But...
Fuuma: What's wrong?
Kakyou: Why do you...
Fuuma (smiles): I said...I will make your wish come true.

(He holds Kakyou close to him, Kakyou closes his eyes and lets Fuuma take control. Fuuma carries him and makes an opening in the darkness which leads to outside the dreamscape... Diet Building again)

Souhi & Hien: ...Your Highness, Your Highness. The master of the Sumeragi clan is here.

(Evil Hinoto smiles in satisfaction and Subaru enters)

Hinoto: Thank you for coming.
Subaru: If there's something wrong just say it. I heard you had something to tell me.
Hinoto: I know where the next kekkai to be destroyed will be.
Subaru (eyes narrow): Where?
Hinoto (image flash to the giant magnificent bridge over Tokyo Bay): Rainbow Bridge. (yukie: and this is where I start screaming omg *_*)
Subaru: When?
Hinoto: Today... We can't wait any longer.
Subaru (very worried now): Does Kamui and the rest know...
Hinoto: I have not been able to contact them yet.
Subaru (leaving): ...I'll go.
Hinoto: By yourself?
Subaru: If we wait until we've contacted everyone, it might be too late.
Hinoto (suitably worried): Please be very, very careful.

(Subaru bows graciously and leaves. Evil Hinoto smirks again)

Evil Hinoto: It would be a problem if I didn't isolate you. Because I will have you all die, one by one.

yukie's note : first note that, I did not translate this volume. It was a contribution and all credits are due where they belong. all i did is edit the format a bit and maybe change a few words around since it was translated from chinese, I matched it up with the jap, and reformated so that it's pretty much like the style of all the other volumes which I've done. personally I love this volume because of kakyou and hokuto, but of course also because it preludes vol 16's famous rainbow bridge scene ;_; it's rather interesting that the tarot card for the devil would be yuuto ^^;;

KUDUKI KAKYOU

Hokuto (voice over): [Are you called Kakyou? I am Hokuto, Sumeragi Hokuto.]

(Guards standing outside a house. Kakyou is inside on a bed... Hokuto appears with a light in his dream)

Hokuto: Huh? Where is this? ...... This isn't my dreamscape, which means... this is your dream? (smile) Why is it that I... can enter into your dream?
Kakyou (look down): Because I want to see someone. Because I have always been by myself, so I want to see others, anyone, anyone would do.
Hokuto (takes Kakyou's cheeks): Anyone would do? How can you say that "anyone would do" to such a cute girl? Doesn't it makes you happy to see me? Hm?
Kakyou (smiles slightly): ...I am very happy. (touch her face gently)
Hokuto: If you can go out, where would you want to go first?
Kakyou: As long as I'm with Hokuto, anywhere would do.
Hokuto: You can't say anywhere would do, it'll be our first date in the real world.
Kakyou: ...the beach would be good.
Hokuto (smiles and calls up a beach scene): Then let's decide to come here, this is my favourite beach. Let's go, to the "outside"! (extends a hand to him, he takes it)

(scene fades, darkness again...)

Kakyou: Why... is Hokuto not in the dream. Is she not asleep? Or is it that something happened to the twin brother she has mentioned before... (He sees Hokuto under the Sakura tree with a determined expression, dressed in onmyouji robes... there was another man) HOKUTO!!

(Kakyou breaks out of his dream and runs down the stairs, bursting out of the house and startling the guards. He runs for where Hokuto was.)

Kakyou: [Hokuto, HOKUTO! HOKUTO!!]

(Kakyou reaches out a hand, he could see it all played out before his eyes, that he is too late. Seishirou's hand pierced her heart. Tears begin to flow, but a pistol fires and he gets shot.)

Kakyou: [Hoku... to...]

(He falls... In the hospital, he's now lying there in the way we were first introduced to him.)

Hokuto (flashback): [I am Hokuto, Sumeragi Hokuto. (extend out a hand) Let's go, let's leave and go to the "outside"!]

(In his comatose state, Kakyou cries)
